How Often Should You Trim Your Hair?

BY Marivic Munoz

Having gorgeous, manageable hair can increase a person’s confidence and boost their self-esteem; but we all know that maintaining that post-salon look can be time-consuming. The great thing is that there’s a general rule of thumb when your hair starts to go haywire: It’s a sign you should get a trim!

Hair usually grows half an inch every month and depending on the thickness/strength of your strands it can get damaged from harsh environments. Damaged hair shows itself with dryness, breakage, and split ends, and sometimes you’ve got no choice but to let those strands go before it gets any worse. Here are some guidelines on hair length and when to trim it…

Liza Soberano shows us how to rock that long hair look and it looks great! BUT long hair can break easier than short hair because it’s aged and older. Cut those Rapunzel locks every 6-8 weeks especially if you have thin or coloured hair; however, if you’re still not at your desired length then cut it every 9-11 weeks. Extra care is the key here, so don’t forget to give your hair some much-needed love!

Like ladies with long locks, so like Sarah Hyland and cut that shoulder-length do every 6-8 weeks. If you want to get it a little longer, try 9-12 week intervals. The challenge with medium-length hair is taming those fly-aways, and this is because your hair is constantly brushed against your shoulders. Try applying a little heat or weighing your hair down with a little product to manage this.

Via Short Haircut

Short hair can really be the best sometimes (we love this look best on old school Rihanna), but you’d need to see your hairdresser fairly often at every 4-7 weeks to keep it short. If you want to grow it out to something like a lob, cut it every 8-11 weeks. Short hair may be low maintenance, but that doesn’t mean that you can let your grooming go to hell! Don’t forget to brush and style for those big events.

We hope you’ve learned a little more about your hair, and let us know in the comments below which length you’re dying to try out! #beautybytes
